A Weekend in San Sebastian

I think I must have died somewhere along the train ride to San Sebastian, because when I woke up I found myself in culinary heaven.

A week ago I took a trip to the gourmet tapas capital of Spain, San Sebastian, with my three two friends Gerrit, Harry*, and Chanul. The first thing we did was walk into a bar (obviously). Upon entering, we were greeted with something that looked a lot like this:

Pintxos! Large gourmet tapas costing around 1€ each.

Pintxos! Large gourmet tapas costing around 1€ each.

We were ecstatic. We demolished a few and moved onto the next bar, and the next. We found that in every bar we entered, the bar was literally lined with plates of delicious pintxos, San Sebastian’s version of tapas. This was the perfect holiday.

SanSeb is also known for its beautiful beaches, which were also a highlight of the trip.

However, pintxos continued to occupy our mind whatever we did. Anytime a note was broken after a bill was paid, we’d look at the change and think to ourselves, “Pintxos money!”

You can see photos of the picturesque San Sebastian here.
